Family Protection Orders in Papua New Guinea
Following the introduction of the Family Protection Act in PNG in 2013 as a response to domestic violence, this research project investigated if family protection orders were helping to make survivors of violence safer.
Lindy worked on this project alongside lead researcher Dr Judy Putt and a team of Papua New Guinean researchers across six provinces. The research findings have been used to advocate for improvements to the PNG justice system, and were heavily cited in the 2021 landmark report of the PNG Special Parliamentary Committee on Gender Based Violence.
The research team won the inaugural Australian National University Bell School Prize for Partnership, Impact and Engagement in 2022.
